Mike Pecha '99 "Live Well Nebraska"

Don't run from this Omaha cop – he's won 2 half-marathons

When officer Michael Pecha gets home from work, he loads his two kids into the jogging stroller, ties the dog’s leash around his waist and heads back out the door for a 5-mile run through his neighborhood.
It’s a chance for the Omaha police officer to clear his head after a long day at the precinct.
“For me, it’s relaxing,” he said. “A chance to collect myself.”
Pecha, 33, started running on track and cross country teams at Elkhorn Mount Michael High School. Then a 5-foot-tall, 100-pound freshman, football wasn’t an option. He ran between 30 and 40 miles a week and raced in 5Ks.

In college, he ran about 60 miles a week and competed in 8K and 10K events for South Dakota State University.  "Read More from "Live Well Nebraska"
