Ryan Moody named men’s basketball assistant

One-time Nebraska-Omaha assistant rounds out UND coaching staff

GRAND FORKS, N.D.--University of North Dakota head men’s basketball coach Brian Jones announced today the hiring of Ryan Moody as assistant coach, effective immediately. Moody’s appointment fills out a coaching staff that also includes second-year assistant coach Chris Johnson and second-year graduate assistant Jayden Olson.

“We are excited to welcome Ryan Moody to the UND basketball family,” said Jones. “I have known Coach Moody for 10 years. He is a person of high character and integrity. I respect him for his work ethic and understanding of the game. More importantly, Ryan has the ability to teach not only the game of basketball, but the game of life.”

Moody comes to UND after having served as head coach at Raymore-Peculiar High School in Peculiar, Missouri since 2001. Prior to that, Moody spent four seasons (1997 to 2001) as an assistant coach at the University of Nebraska-Omaha, where Jones was also on the staff for two of those seasons.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. - Elkhorn Mount Michael graduate Ryan Moody (1992), now a high school basketball coach in Peculiar, Mo., has been named an assistant coach at the University of North Dakota.

Moody was an assistant at the University of Nebraska at Omaha from 1997 to 2001. He coached for two seasons at UNO with Brian Jones, now North Dakota's head coach.

Jones succeeds Rich Glas, who coached the Sioux for 18 seasons but resigned in April to become the top assistant at Northern Iowa. Jones had been an assistant at the University of Iowa for seven seasons.

1997, where he also served as a student assistant coach. He also earned a master’s degree in recreation administration from UNO in 2000 and a master’s degree in administration from William Woods (Mo.) University in 2005.
