Below is the commendation for Chris Garcia '96

It was my distinct pleasure to participate in a brief ceremony today recognizing Private First Class Garcia's much deserved promotion to Specialist. This is an important day, and I am honored to have been a part of it.

I've had the privilege of working with Chris since his arrival here in Baghdad, and am repeatedly impressed by his initiative, determination, attention to detail, breadth of knowledge, and true dedication to the mission. Chris' performance has quickly set him apart from his peers, and as a result, his personal analysis and recommendations are read and considered in the decision making process at literally the highest levels of command in Iraq, and contribute to products circulated in the Washington DC area. Specialist Garcia is making a difference in Iraq's and America's future.

You may not know this - but Chris was not due for promotion for several months. His superb performance caught the attention of our Command as one of a very select few who's performance warranted early recognition. Military promotions however, are not a reward for past performance - they are recognition of preparedness for increased responsibility. Chris has repeatedly demonstrated that he's ready.

Take pride job your Husband and Son is doing in Iraq. I do.
